Program Information

Skill Sessions

Our Skill Session are for athletes of all ages & skill levels! Every weeknight we offer sessions for both competitive players looking to take the next step on their club teams, as well as youth athletes who may be trying basketball for the first time! We guarantee there is a skill session suited for where ever your athlete currently is at on their basketball journey.

These sessions ensure maximum reps and touches! Every athlete has a ball in their hands the entire time we are in the gym and are given as many opportunities as possible to develop their individual skills which they can then take back to a team setting! During these programs we only play 1on0 and 1on1 to ensure our athletes have the time to develop proper technique and understanding of the skills they are working on before applying the skills in a controlled environment tailored to the skills we just improved. By limiting the amount of time in live games it ensures that we build the habits and foundation necessary to use the skills covered in a 3x3 and 5on5 setting.

Playing Foundations Program

The Playing Foundations program is new to YXU Basketball in 2026!

In the Playing Foundations program athletes will be exposed to some of the most common actions seen in both 5on5 and 3x3 basketball. Unlike our skill sessions this program is rooted in a play based design where we will work to understand the concepts/actions covered by applying them in controlled 2on0 & 3on0 scenarios before taking the next step and playing live in 2on2 3on2 and 3on3 scenarios. Athletes will then be given guidance on the skills they need to develop to have success within these actions if they struggle with the concepts covered. Unlike a traditional house league - we don't roll the ball out and let the kids play. We will take the time to stop and teach according to the ability of the group and make sure each athlete has the opportunity to play across multiple roles.

Similar to our skill sessions we offer both competitive and development streams of our Playing Foundations program!

Summer is Serious Program

The Summer is Serious Program is tailored for athletes looking to transform their game in the offseason! Athletes will develop key areas of their game necessary to excel on any team they play on. While also working on adding layers to their game so they are ready to step into a bigger role on their teams when the time comes.

AAU basketball can make it difficult for athletes to truly develop over the summer. Often times the majority of practices are spent on team concepts & plays - placing more value in a win now mentality instead of individual player development.

At YXU Basketball we understand the importance of giving athletes the chance to play outside of their current role on their teams and fail during this process. We can then help provide the framework necessary to develop the skills, understanding, and ability to play in an increased role when that time comes!

During this program our athletes will receive premier on court instruction from our staff of current & former professional players while also developing their strength, body control, and athleticism off the court under the guidance of Kingston's top strength and conditioning coaches at UFit Kingston!

If your child is interested in joining the Summer is Serious program please reach out to us via email! More information will follow in the new year.

PA Day Camps

Our PA Day Camps are for athletes in grades 4-8 who are looking to improve their basketball skills and have fun playing the game with friends during their PA Day. Athletes of all skill levels are welcome!

Grade 6-8 Summer Camps

New in 2026, we will be offering a Grade 6-8 Skills Camp for athletes who are currently playing with a competitive team as well as athletes who are going to tryout for a competitive team in the Fall of 2026. This camp will be tailored towards individual player development and understanding of numerous concepts applied through 1on1 and small sided games with different constraints put in place.

The Grade 6-8 Competitive Camp is for athletes who played on a competitive team the previous year as well as athletes who attended the Grade 6-8 Skills Camp and were identified as being ready for the team concepts covered at the Competitive Camp. This camp will cover higher level 5on5 concepts that are not traditionally taught at the youth level with an emphasis on competition and impacting winning!

High School Boys/Girls Summer Camps

Our High School Camps are for athletes entering grades 9-12 who played on a competitive team the previous year.

Lead by our staff of current overseas professional and USports players - our high school camp is a must for athletes in Eastern Ontario who are serious about playing the game at a higher level. During our week at camp athletes will be exposed to new ideas on how to improve their skills, receive tips and tricks used by the pros and top USports players in Canada, as well as gain access to University coaches who come in to share their knowledge and work directly with our athletes. Concepts covered in camp are the same as those taught at the USports, Division 1, and professional level. Giving athletes insight into what goes into playing and understanding the game at the next level.

Athletes will never exceed a 4:1 player to coach ratio ensuring maximal instruction and feedback for each athlete attending!
